Breeders have often been confronted with undervaluing or overestimating the costs of breeding programs. This is often due to a lack of awareness of appropriate costing methods 🌱 💰
The Breeding Costing Tool allows users to estimate the cost of crop breeding and associated research activities, thereby helping breeders make appropriate allocation of resources 💡
The software calculates the expenses involved in running a crop breeding activity or an entire breeding pipeline, utilizing data such as prices, costs, and salaries from a single year ⚖
This week, hashtag AcceleratedBreedingInitiative, alongside International Potato Center (CIP), International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), International Rice Research Institute, @CIMMYT, and Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, will host a Costing of Breeding Operations Workshop in hashtag Nairobi 🛠
👨🎓 Participants will gain proficiency in costing breeding operations and enhancing cost-effectiveness through optimization. Plus, they’ll have the opportunity to cost one Target Product Profile within their pipeline
